The issue
Our website was not the first web project of the Nasz Bocian Association. Before establishing cooperation, the Association had the website built on Drupal 6. Drupal technology is well-known for its high security, but only if it is regularly updated. In this case, they were not conducted. Besides obsolete Drupal version, the website used the no longer supported version of PHPbb.
Usage of the non - supported technologies limited the website development and the accessibility of modules. What is more critical, with an increasing number of skipped updates, the website was more vulnerable for hacker attacks. Creation of the new site became a necessity to lead a safe business online.
Our solution
Nasz Bocian Association had a positive experience with works on Drupal. Thus, we decided to build the new website on the latest version of the system. If it is regularly updated, it will provide high security and satisfying efficiency.
The online forum is the integral element of the Association activity. In this case, we also decided not to change the technology - the newest version of PHPbb was introduced. Besides the technological issues, our experts were also responsible for the minimalistic and responsive graphical layout project.
Solution in details
1. Online forum integration
Apart from the website, the crucial stage of our works was the online forum update and its further integration with the newly - built website. To achieve that, we conducted Drupal integration with PHPbb. As a result, users have constant access to the online forum from the website level.
2. Content migration
The migration process was an integral part of our works because it saved a lot of previous efforts of website editors to generate and publish the texts, graphics etc. The migration process covered the transfer of content from the subpages and the whole online forum. Now, the material published on the previous website is also available for the users of the new one.
3. Clinic base
We equipped the new website with the search engine that helps to find the clinics which deal with infertility problem. The users can filter the search results using localization, type of clinic and the offer criteria. Moreover, there is the possibility to compare the offers of particular clinics.
4. Adoption centres base
Aside from the clinic base, we developed the second one concerning the adoption centres. The base gathers the adoption centres from the whole country with their contact details. The search results can be filtered alphabetically or by the localization.
5. Different content types
The new website enables to add different types of content e.g. classic articles, news or the users posts.
