What Technical Issues Do We Usually Find After Taking Over a Project?
- Outdated core and modules that restrict website development and increase the risk of errors or security issues.
- Technical errors that make the website unstable and require constant fixes.
- Solutions created quickly, without considering the bigger picture or the project’s further development.
- Obsolete code that is risky and makes every change time-consuming.
- Custom implementations without documentation that deviate from standards and are difficult for other teams to maintain or develop.

Case 1: An Unfinished Website That Missed Its Launch Deadline
- Initial situation: We took over the website when it was supposedly three-quarters complete – or at least that was what the previous agency had told the client. There were two main reasons they contacted us. Firstly, the website launch was significantly delayed. Secondly, the agency failed to deliver the agreed scope of work. What’s more, they were reluctant to resolve the matter promptly, thereby delaying the project’s completion. Our initial review revealed that although the website looked almost finished, the code quality left a lot to be desired. Most of its elements had been hard-coded, which meant the client would not have been able to edit them through the CMS. As a result, the website deviated significantly from development standards.
- Our approach: As with every project, we began by meeting with the client to understand exactly what mattered the most to them and which elements required immediate intervention. Then we prioritized tasks and moved forward.
- Effects: Since the website had been stalled for quite some time, our main priority was to complete it quickly and in line with development standards. We mobilized the entire team and launched the website within a month and a half. The project’s success was largely down to effective organization – we divided the work into clear stages and kept updating the client on our progress. This approach helped us build trust, so shortly after the website was completed, the client gave us the additional projects under a support agreement.

Case 2: Slow Progress and Increasing Costs with No Results
- Initial situation: The client lost trust in the previous agency after repeatedly receiving hourly reports that were significantly higher than the original estimates. To make things worse, the additional time didn’t result in faster delivery. Quite the opposite – despite many extra hours being logged, the project was making little to no progress. The client also reported communication issues, incomplete strategic documentation, and a lack of clear priorities.
- Our approach: As always, we began the project takeover with an in-depth and honest conversation with the client. We discussed their needs, expectations, and future website development plans. In practice, this combined elements of strategic workshops and a pre-implementation analysis. Because the client’s trust had been seriously undermined, we focused on full transparency and communication. We explained every estimate and regularly reported on our progress. This meant the client always knew exactly what was happening and how much it would cost.
- Effects: The project finally began moving forward and gained momentum. After just two months, the client made it clear that they were satisfied with our cooperation. We currently work within a consistent hour package, which is regularly expanded as we deliver further improvements.
